With two decades of hands-on experience as a practicing nutritional therapist and 12 wonderful years as a key member of the senior academic team at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION), I've had the privilege of being deeply immersed in the world of nutrition.
My role as Head of Clinics at ION allowed me to cultivate a rich understanding of clinical practice, mentor graduates, and enhance standards within the field. In my private practice, which has been a cherished endeavour, I've honed my expertise and resources. As a visiting lecturer at ION, a partner to like-minded brands, and a speaker at industry events, I've shared my knowledge widely. Moreover, my sponsored podcast, Healthily, and mainstream media features have enabled me to reach a broad audience.
My journey has reaffirmed that success in this profession is attainable with determination and hard work.
I'm so thrilled to have created the Enterprising Excellence in Clinical Nutrition practitioner course. I've designed it to share my wealth of knowledge, experience, and insights with fellow practitioners. Whether you're looking to enhance your clinical skills, build lasting client relationships, or succeed in your nutrition practice, I believe this course to be a valuable resource. It's an opportunity to learn from an experienced expert and grow your confidence and knowledge in a supportive environment.

I genuinely enjoy teaching, and want to offer an experience that will allow for real-time interaction and connection between us. It’s important for me to get on-the-spot feedback from you to ensure what I’m teaching is ‘landing’ and providing you with the valuable support that I know I would want from a practical course like this. However, if you prefer to digest content in your own time and at your own pace that is possible, as each Masterclass will be recorded, and you’ll receive lifetime access to all of them.
It's different in that it's not a traditional business course, nor does it focus on teaching you about a specific health condition. There are plenty of those courses on the market already. This is a course that will teach you how to work with clients on a deep and impactful level that goes beyond the clinical training you may have received as part of your qualification. A beneficial by-product of this is a happier and more profitable business for you as a result. We do cover a range of topics that are often a source of business concern for nutrition professionals including pricing, structuring and framing of the working relationship. It is designed to give you a framework for working with fewer clients, over a longer period of time, making for a less stressful, and more enjoyable working experience.
Yes, absolutely! I want to share with you everything I’ve learned from my 20 years in practice to help you feel secure and confident in working with private clients.
Yes, absolutely! This course should very much help you in your clinical training, while providing a proven framework you can run with as soon as you graduate. Many new graduates flounder after qualifying because it takes a long time to work out what does and doesn't work for a sustainable practice to be achieved. It is my mission to prevent this from happening to you!
Yes! My ambition with this course is to give you a really robust and supported framework on which to start your working life as a nutrition professional. It is designed to be very practical, honest, and clear. I have been at the coalface of private nutrition work for over 20 years, so I have made many mistakes and learned a lot along the way. I want to share everything I’ve found to be helpful in working with clients for maximum impact in order that you have every opportunity to be successful in your chosen profession.
I get that it can feel like a hard slog. I really want to teach the things I’ve learned over the years that have helped me step away from the entrenched beliefs many of us have about the ‘right’ way of working or adding value to our clients, as well as the limiting factors that can hold us back from a confidence point of view. My approach is unique to me, but I want to share it with you. It’s enabled me to grow a really happy and fulfilling business, without burnout. It reduces the need to keep having to find lots of new clients, and encourages working relationships that are genuinely delightful, and positive in their energy exchange. It also fosters the development of building a grass-roots business for those who want to step away from the overwhelm of things like social media. And finally, it provides a clear structure for removing all the paperwork and client reports that is so off-putting and time consuming.
I’ve worked in this field for over 20 years, and supported over 1,000 clients. My clients have taught me a lot, and I’ve developed a way of working that is unique to me. It’s one that colleagues and friends in the industry have been asking me to share for a while. I also run clinical support groups for nutrition students and practitioners, and through the many conversations I've had in these groups it's became apparent that there is a need to cover more than just the basics. We tend to learn a lot about physiology when we study nutrition, but not so much about the psychology of eating and health, and how that applies to the clinical encounter, so I want to bridge that gap with this course. Further, many practitioners are programmed through their training and other means, to develop a way of working that is focussed very much around a set number of appointments or ‘packages’ often leading to slightly skewed focus, especially around ‘goals’ for their clients. While these things are absolutely valid and often helpful, they don’t necessarily foster deeper level mastery of the practitioner/client connection, which I have found to be so valuable to the success of my clients and practice.
